Summary
This is a 1907 edition of a book edited by Anna Benneson McMahan and published by A.C. McClurg & Company, entitled Florence in the Poetry of the Brownings. It contains two of Elizabeth Barrett Browning's poems—"Casa Guidi Windows" and "The Dance"—and six of Robert Browning's poems, all of which exemplify the profound influence that Florence, Italy had on the literary couple. As McMahan discusses in her introduction, the Brownings moved to Florence after their elopement, causing their rejection by Barrett's father and brothers. The two spent 15 years and nearly their entire married life in Florence, and it was there that they both produced some of their most romantic and famous works
